Danny Brown, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q in Prospect Park Freestyle

“Ain’t nobody sober” – Childish Gambino. Nothing better than a late night, intoxicated impromptu freestyle from these three. Schoolboy Q. Childish Gambino, and Danny Brown invaded Brooklyn’s Prospect Park about 3 months ago, giving us an informal cypher freestyle. Now we finally get to see it for ourselves. Enjoy!

Keeping the New Music Flowing: Mac Miller ft Schoolboy Q, PlaneCarBoat.

Mac Miller randomly dropped a new track titled PlanCarBoat that features TDE’s Schoolboy Q, produced by Larry Dollaz from his twitter page ( @macmiller). The song has an airy, space sound, but none the less – DOPE! – to sum it up in one word. Keep the new music flowing!

The Roc Is In The Building! Rita Ora Prepares To Release Her Debut Album

Jay-Z  is making  a living out of turning young, beautiful and musically gifted young women into hot, chart topping, rock sensations and his newest protege would be a 21 year old bleach- blonde British beauty named Rita Ora. If the name doesn’t automatically ring a bell, maybe it will after hearing her number one single on itunes “R.I.P”

If you think this is just another beautiful young woman who’s image sells more than her talent, you are (fortunately) WRONG! She has beauty and the talent to match. Most of her song released are more appropriate for rocking out in your car or in the gym, but here’s a sample of her doing a cover of Gotye and Kimbra “Somebody That I Used To Know” to get a feel of her vocal ability:

Beautiful, right?

Her album titled ‘ORA’! is set to release August 27th, 2012. Her album artwork was released July 3 and a tracklist will be coming soon, so look out for that! In the meantime, her playful, sexy, party hard songs and videos are perfect for the summertime.

Here’s her second biggest song titled “How We Do” that has graced the airwaves of thousands of radio stations:

Rita Ora also gives her fans a glimpse of her experiences doing what is typical in the life of a pop-star in several video diaries also on youtube. One of them being a behind-the-scenes look into her UK tour that was posted back in April 2012, but in my opinion the best video diary was “Rita Ora 24/7: In The Studio” as she takes us into the studio and explains her inspiration behind her music and sheds a little light on her personality and how that plays an obvious part in her music.

I personally like to do a little research on an artist so if you like to do the same, the link below will take you to the official website of Rita Ora where you can pre-order your copy of ‘ORA’!

Featured Artist Of The Week: EXQWIZITE

Miami born, Palm Beach County raised, Exqwizite is a 16-year-old rapper/singer-songwriter who is looking to get an early start on her career. She possesses all creative control over her music and with being so young , the lyrical content is pretty dope compared to the mainstream female rap artist now.

She gets her inspiration from mature rap artist such as Lauren Hill; rapping the verse and singing her own chorus, in a delivery that displays her own youthful spin. The track called “I’m Fly” is a prime example of that :

Right now she under the management with Orci Sonus of Sir Dutchie who says the biggest challenge with working with such a new and young artist would be the age limit in certain venues! However, that does not stop the show – Exqwizite will perform July 6th in downtown Orlando among other musicians trying to get a buzz started.

Young people have always been a great source of inspiration. They are imperative to any change process because they become the future. Exqwizite sends a message to her fellow peers, saying ” My advice would be to actually find out who YOU are as a person, not would society says you are, but who you say you are and be original…”

If you’re ready to see what Exqwizite brings to the table, you can listen to selected tracks, get free downloads, view videos and tell her what you think by clicking the link below!

Scarlett Johansson, Defines The Meaning Of A Triple Threat

What you just heard was the voice of American actress and model, Scarlett Johansson. We can all see she has the lovely face of an angel, but who knew she had the voice to match? We often find actors/actresses making way from the movie screen to behind someone’s Hollywood studio mic, and the results are sometimes pretty good, but more often something you would not consider buying the album to. This case is a surprising exception to that. She teamed up singer-songwritter and guitarist, Pete Yorn and created 9 “break -up” songs and music videos to match. This next song is one of them entitled, “Relator” :

In addition to these break up songs, Scarlett also did 10 cover versions of the singer – songwriter Tom Waits who was also an actor. Theres no doubt she could have her own album and run with the music pros! Here are a couple more favorites:

“Innocent When You Dream” (Live)

“Falling Down” (Tom Waits cover)

Scarlett Johansson can be found on Pandora radio as well as iTunes.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/break-up/id326638724

If you’re not too familiar with her work as an actress, a few good movies to catch up on are:

1.) “A Good Woman” Scarlett Johansson played Lady Windermere in “A Good Woman.” The movie is a faithful adaptation of the famous play by Oscar Wilde. Helen Hunt starred as Mrs. Erlynne. Overall, the movie manages to maintain the undefined, offbeat comedy that lies within all of Wilde’s plays.

2.) “Manny and Lo” Scarlett Johansson showed her star power in “Manny and Lo.” She played the role of Amanda, one of two young sisters who run away and kidnap a woman to help the oldest sister with her accidental pregnancy. You can see the talent and potential in the very young Scarlett in her strong portrayal of Amanda. It’s a quirky, offbeat film and the acting carries the strange story along.

3.) “Ghost World” With a tagline of “Accentuate the negative,” don’t expect too much with “Ghost World.” Scarlett Johansson played Rebecca and Thora Birch played Enid. Rebecca and Enid are two teenage outcasts who target a middle-aged outcast for their ill-spirited prank.

4.) “The Nanny Diaries” “The Nanny Diaries” is both a stark and comedic look at what life is truly like for nannies on the Upper West Side of New York City. Scarlett Johansson carried this movie with ease. The movie was based on the best-selling book of the same name and it’s based on, yes, a true story.

5.) “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” captured a lot of attention upon its 2008 release. Scarlett Johansson played Cristina in this movie, which followed the story of a love triangle gone awry. It’s not the typical story on the topic and there are no “bad guys” at fault. This movie is about finding your way.

“Another Black Girl Lost” – Nas

Nas does spectacular work when he speaks on the empowerment of people. He encourages particularly young black women in his new single “Another Black Girl Lost” to not let dumb decisions over a man ruin the rest of their lives as well as the life of another wedlock child.

This single is going to be featured on his upcoming solo album titled Life Is Good, which is his first album in four years and also to be his final album under Deaf Jam Records. He had some heavy hitting producers in the creative process of this album, including Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Alex Da Kid, Q-Tip, Heavy D,  Big K.R.I.T, Just Blaze, Bangladesh, just to name a few. Take a listen.

“Nasty” is another featured single thats was previously released on August 9, 2011 on iTunes. He shows some favoritism to the ’90s era, which is the kind of vibe this song has.  If you missed it, click below to listen.

“The Don”- 3:02 mins long with the hook shouting “Nas the Don, Inner New York City”, produced by the late Heavy D,  Da Internz, and Salaam Remi has been released on iTunes since April 3,2012.

Theophilus London Collabs w/A$ap Rocky on “Big Spender”

Theophilus London gets flashy with the lifestyle he lives that we all wish we did in a new song called “Big Spender” off his new project Lovers Holiday II: Rose Island , which is set to release May 15th. The track is definitely reaching back in time and turning an old classic into a new hit. If you like sampling as much as I do, you’ll love this. From the muscial play  Chicago, there is a number titled “Big Spender” where the women go on and on about a noticeably high rolling gentlemen who enters the club. The song was actually an original from one of UK’s former pop stars, Shirley Bassey, and has been covered numerous times over the past 40-plus years by artist including Diana Ross and the Supremes. Where Theophilus heard it first is not clear, but he made it his own, brilliantly collabing with one of the hottest new artist at this time, Asap Rocky. Turn the volume on and take a listen.

The Weeknd “Song bird of his Generation”

R&B lovers, are going to love this one. The Weeknd – no “e”-  is a 22 year old Canadian musician who is barely scratching the music scene, but already deemed the “Songbird of his Generation” by MTV, BET, Rolling Stone, XXL, and The Source. All I can say about that is, for good reason! He’s already been nominated and even won a few awards so, like always, I went through and found the best tracks from the trilogy of mixtapes he released last year; House of Balloons (released March 2011), Thursday (released August 2011), and Echoes of Silence (released December 2011). I steer clear of jibber-jabber so , yes, he will have you lyrically inclined. Here are the top 8 choices of mine:

“What You Need”- House of Balloons. The intro has a faint, kind of distorted sample from Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat” when she says “Baby now we can coast”.

“Wicked Games” – House of Balloons

“The Morning” – House of Balloons

“Gone” – Thursday

“Rolling Stone” – Thursday

“High For This” – House Of Balloons

“Initiation” – Echoes of Silence

“Next” – Echoes of Silence

You can listen download all three mixtapes from his website from the link below.

Stalley drops his new mixtape, “Savage Journey To The American Dream”

Highly anticipated and its finally here!! Stalley dropped another mixtape titled Savage Journey To The American Dream, known as #SJTTAD on twitter. His previous mixtape, Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music),  showed us his variety in vocabulary making his rhymes clear, clean and connectable, his amazing taste in beats, and love of instrumentals. Its exciting to finally hear an artist with a combination of lyricism and quality taste in beats, and just when we thought he couldn’t get better, he dropped another one on us. This mixtape shows more variety in sounds, but every song is still relevant to the album title: whether it lies in love, a career, or possession of money, we’re all in one savage journey to reach our own idea of what it is to be living the “American Dream”.

Here are five of what I picked to be the best. The link at the bottom is where you can listen to the full mixtape.

My favorite out of the lineup goes out to “BCGMMG” feat Rick Ross and Meek Mill

“Party Heart”

Ranked another one of my favs, “Cold”

“Home To You”. Ain’t no place like it.

“Petrin Hill Poenies”

“I was underground then, and I’m underground now. Only difference is I ain’t tryna be found”- Stalley
